Gambling Addict Wins & Loses

A gambler had his $47,000 jackpot win seized when it was discovered he had joined a voluntary program to excluded himself from casinos.

His lawyer is arguing that the man “never in writing agreed to forfeit winnings,” the lawyer said. “He agreed to the terms of the agreement that he signed.”

In 2007 that he had a gambling problem and signed an agreement designed to keep him from gambling for three years. Members of the Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program found in gaming facilities can be asked to leave and fined. According to the current brochure for the program, any jackpots won by self-excluded gamblers will be withheld and used to fund gambling-related research.
